Your team keeps hitting its AI limit by lunch. Most of that comes down to a few fixable habits.
(The biggest cost is the AI re-reading the same long chat on every message.)
The sources here are Claude's, but the habits carry over to ChatGPT and Gemini. Check each tool's own limit rules.
Ruben Hassid posted 22 rules for staying under Claude's limits this week. We checked every one against Anthropic's own docs. 10 hold up as written, 11 need a caveat, and one is wrong. Your weekly reset is a fixed time set for your account, and you can see it in Settings > Usage.
Here's how to make the plan you already pay for go further:
Chats
■ One topic per chat. Every message sends the whole conversation back to the model. Anthropic calls clearing between tasks the single most effective lever for quality and cost.
■ Put all your asks in one message. Three questions in one prompt beat three follow-ups.
■ Plan in plain text first. Agree on the outline, then ask for the deck or document.
■ Coming back after a long break? Start a new chat. The saved copy of a conversation expires when it sits idle, so the next message pays for all of it again. Ask for a short summary before you leave, then paste it into the new chat.
Settings
■ Match effort to the task. Low or Medium for routine work. Higher effort uses more of your limit, so save it for the hardest problem of the week.
■ Use a lighter model for routine work. Anthropic says Opus "uses meaningfully more of your quota" than Sonnet.
■ Skip web search and file creation for quick questions. Tools and multi-step tasks use more of your limit.
■ Load only the apps a chat needs. Each connected app takes up room. Anthropic suggests "On demand" once you have 10 or more.
■ Pause scheduled tasks nobody reads. They draw from the same limits as live work.
Files
■ Crop screenshots. One full-screen image can cost up to 4,784 tokens.
■ Turn PDFs into text when you only need the words. Claude reads each PDF page as text and as an image.
■ Put files you reuse in a Project. Anthropic: project content "is cached and counts less against your limits when reused."
Fix the habits before you buy a bigger plan.
Save this.
Which of these would save your team the most this week?
